The Writing Celebration was so much fun for everyone! It was wonderful to see so many parents, friends, and grandparents enjoying the hard work of our students. The children put a tremendous amount of work into these books, from the conception to editing, to illustrations. The appreciation from loved ones is evident on the faces of the children as they read to others. Thank you all for your support! Check your individual class website for more photos of the morning.
The kindergarten children are the first at Brookside to perform on stage in a class play. Excitement has been building among the children and the time has finally arrived! The process has begun for our youngest stars and plans are beginning to come together. Each class has chosen a story they want to tell and beginning to have in-depth discussions about characters and plot. The teachers are leading conversations in how to make the stories come to life on stage with the backdrop, music, movement, costumes, and dialogue. Stay tuned for further details!
The upcoming kindergarten writing celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26th. The children are working on stating an opinion and supporting their position with reasons. The teachers are encouraging the children to think about ways that might persuade their reader, including detailed illustrations and thoughtful comments connected to the pictures. Everyone in the kindergarten, children and teachers alike, are very excited to see you at the upcoming writing celebration! Prepare to be persuaded!
As you know, the kindergarten teachers have a tradition of recognizing the great things your children do by giving love notes. This week every child in Blue-K and Green-K had an opportunity to write a small note to a classmate on an oversized heart, a giant class love note! It was presented at Friday’s assembly. The children explained that this is one way in kindergarten that children are recognized for being kind, considerate, and respectful. The giant love note is displayed in the kindergarten hallway, just in time for Valentine’s Day!
