This week the children engaged in discussions about Dr. Martin Luther King. For some, this was their first time learning about Dr. King, and others contributed to our discussions offering many things they know about him and the impact he had on the world. We read several texts about Dr. King and discussed how just one person can make a big difference. The children reflected and started to think of things they could do to help create a positive change. They came up with ideas that affected our environment, their friendships, and even their families. Each student used their own idea to make a project that they will take home. Our hope is that their project hangs in their home as a reminder to them that they too can make a difference.
