Kindergarteners are back in the swing of things and are off to a busy start in 2015. After over seventy days in Kindergarten, first grade is in sight. The children are practicing our classroom expectations and making sure that they complete their jobs daily and get back to our routine. Reading workshop is in full swing as we continue to build our reading stamina and add reading skills to our toolbox. After a very successful first writing celebration, we will be launching a new writing unit which will be all about the art of persuasion. During math this week we practiced counting by twos, fives, and tens, and we experimented with “pocket problems,” which is a creative way to learn addition and subtraction through story telling. The children are ready for a busy winter and are up for a challenge!
