March sure came in like a lion! Kindergarten students are busy at work after a long and fun play process. Reading strategies and persuasive writing are the focus in language arts, and in math workshop the children learned about greater than and less than symbols and compared numbers. Top It, a new math game, was introduced to reinforce the greater than and less than concept, which we will continue to play during our morning and free choice time. Pajama day was in full swing on Monday as we celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday. The children learned all about Dr. Seuss and read many of his famous books; they used The Lorax as a foundation for writing their persuasive writing pieces, and then, after reading Green Eggs and Ham, they enjoyed delicious green eggs and pancakes prepared by our chef. For many children, this was their first experience sampling green eggs! Later in the week, we had a visit from Sparkles Dentistry. The children learned all about the importance of good eating habits and the best times to brush their teeth. They all received a gift bag from Sparkles so they can continue to practice good dental habits at home!
