Recently, Kindergarten students have been able to blend social emotional content into their writing. As we continue our journey of “What makes me, me”, the children have been able to identify their own feelings and the feelings of others through various read alouds and thought provoking conversation. Students are stretching out their words and using inventive spelling to create books about their feelings. They have written about times they feel happy and times they feel angry. During exploration time, the children have had the opportunity to draw self-portraits that reflect a certain feeling or create an emoji to reflect their emotions. The children are emotionally invested in this unit of study.
