Monster Squeeze!

11/30/2018

This week the Kindergarten students were introduced to the game Monster Squeeze!  Monster Squeeze is a two-player math game that challenges your child to find a secret number while learning about the number line. It is a great reinforcement for numbers on the number line, taking turns, and basic math vocabulary. Even better, it can be found on the EM4 online website that your child has individualized access to via their username and password, so they can enjoy Monster Squeeze at home as well!

Book Fair Inspiration

11/9/2018

This week the children experienced all our incredible book fair had to offer! We were so excited to meet a few of the authors of some books at the fair and to hear about their journeys to becoming published writers. These writers inspired our young authors to write their own amazing pieces as we move into a new writing unit. We are gearing up for our December writing celebration by talking about how we can express our feelings through our writing.  The children began by reflecting on an experience or a memory that they remember fondly. We are looking forward to beginning this process and learning about another genre of writing!

Halloween Math!

11/2/2018

Kindergarten students were so excited for all of the Halloween fun this week. We engaged in many halloween themed math activities. Students challenged peers to candy corn bingo using ghost boards. They sorted various sweet treat candy by color, shape, and name, and then counted each type of candy.  We also had a spooky time creating addition math problems using halloween characters and stories.
