This week, kindergarten students participated in a fun and interactive lesson from our phonics unit entitled, “Magic Words!” The goal of the lesson was for students to understand that there are many snap words that give writers word-part power and that those “magic words” can be used to make many more words by changing the first letter. Students practiced blending sounds together and realized that there are more magic words than just “please” and “thank you”! For example, some of these snap words are “-at," “-in,” “-it,” and “-an." We encourage students to look for these magic words in the "just right" books they bring home each week.” |
